Kementerian Tenaga Kerja Hong Kong mengumumkan bahwa upah minimum yang semula 4.310 dolar HK naik menjadi 4.410 dolar HK (Rp7,5 juta) per bulan, sedangkan uang makan dari 1.037 dolar HK menjadi 1.053 dolar HK (Rp1,8 juta) per bulan.
Keputusan Kemenaker Hong Kong tersebut berlaku efektif per 30 September 2017, demikian Konsulat Jenderal RI di Hong Kong dalam laman resminya yang dipantau Antara di Beijing, Senin.
Pemerintah Hong Kong akan semakin meningkatkan perlindungan kepada para tenaga kerja asing, terutama yang bekerja di sektor domestik.
Kenaikan gaji dan tunjangan makan tersebut dilatarbelakangi oleh meningkatnya permintaan akan pekerja rumah tangga.
Namun pasar tenaga kerja sektor domestik tersebut tidak bisa dipenuhi oleh masyarakat Hong Kong sendiri.
Selain itu, kenaikan gaji tenaga kerja domestik juga berdasarkan kajian pemerintah Hong Kong akan kebutuhan hidup setiap tahun.
KJRI Hong Kong mengimbau para TKI menyambut positif kenaikan tersebut, meskipun nilainya tidak terlalu signifikan.
Jumlah TKI di Hong Kong mencapai angka 154.000 atau peringkat kedua setelah pekerja asal Filipina. (Ant)
